VIDEO DIRECTOR: NICKI CHAVOYA

 

Since graduating from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2005, Nicki’s work has ranged from documentaries to music videos to art installations.  Her most recent work has been featured on MTV, VH1, NPR, Prefix Magazine, NME Magazine and Under the Radar.  Her documentary work has taken her around the world to Haiti, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and throughout the U.S and has premiered at the Berlinale and SXSW and screened for international audiences at Hot Docs, Full Frame, IDFA, on National Geographic and in theaters both in Europe and North America.  

 

With a passion for supporting and collaborating with other artists, Nicki founded the Outpost Art Collective. Outpost produces video, web series, events and multi-media art projects.  Through Outpost she has produced and curated several art events in New Haven and Brooklyn including art shows, film festivals, music concerts, arts festivals and more.  Nicki also played keyboards in the Brooklyn-based band 12,000 Trees.  Nicki also serves on the Board of Directors for P.L.A.C.E. Multicultural Children’s Museum where she teaches video workshops to middle school students, organizes cultural events for families and is designing the museum’s future media installation.

 

Currently, Nicki is writing a television series with collaborator, Lisa Amadeo, and will be directing two short narrative films in Winter/Spring 2015.
